Dear Encinita Leaders,


I hope you are enjoying your summer, staying healthy and finding balance. To keep everyone safe and healthy, our district is starting the 2020-2021 school year on August 19th with distance learning until further notice and guidance from our County. As we continue to collaborate to provide the best online learning experience for our students, we are planning ahead for the day when we can welcome you back on campus.


In the meantime, here is some important information to help prepare for the start of the school year:

Registration: Please be sure to register for the 2020-2021 school year. All students, new or returning, must register online. Please email if you need assistance.


First Day of School: Students are expected to attend online classes on August 19th. Prior to the first day of school, we will provide you with a link for an online parent orientation with your child’s teacher. I will also provide an orientation for Distance Learning expectations the week of August 10th via Zoom and Google Meet. You will receive an email with further information as the time nears.


Technology: All students are provided with a Chrome Book and hotspot for WIFI. Please visit Encinita’s school office on Tuesday, August 4 from 8am to 2pm to check out a computer and/or internet hotspot.

  • You may keep the Chrome Book that you checked out if you are a returning student to Encinita.
  • All Kindergarten and 1st grade students must return any chrome books previously borrowed to Encinita on August 4 and retrieve a new one that is age appropriate.
  • All former 6th graders attending 7th grade at Muscatel in the fall must return their Chrome Book to Encinita and check out a new one from Muscatel Middle School on August 6 in Room 9.


School Meals: Starting August 19th, our cafeteria will start providing meals at our Lower Azusa Parking Lot via our Drive-through method on Wednesdays and on Fridays only from 7-8 am (Breakfast) and 11:45-1pm (Lunch). You will receive a flier with your child’s account number. Please display your number on your car dashboard as you pull up for your meals. Each Wednesday, students will receive 3 meals for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Every Friday, students will receive 2 meals for Monday and Tuesday.  


Meal Application: All families are encouraged to complete an online meal application on This application is also connected to any benefits provided by our government during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we highly encourage all families to apply. Meals for the school year are not free unless you complete this application and qualify for free/reduced meals. Even if you qualified last year, you must reapply each year.


Learning materials: We have purchased learning supplies and materials for all students. Once we receive the items, we will provide you with a date to come pick up via our drive-through method on Lower Azusa Parking Lot.
