Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

As a fellow parent, I'll admit I often get caught up in the demands of everyday life at the expense of my family and loved ones. Work, household responsibilities, financial pressures, and countless obligations compete for our time and attention, often at the expense of those we love. In the midst of it all, it's easy to lose sight of something incredibly important: our children grow up, and our time with them is finite. Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that when you look back on those early years of raising your children, you are far more likely to regret the moments you missed than the work you left unfinished or the obligations you postponed. My kids are now in their mid-twenties, and while I was an active, engaged parent, I wish I had attended more school performances, volunteered in a classroom, ...

Still in Summer Mode, with the New School Year Around the Corner!

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

I hope you, your children, and your families have been well and tolerating the heat! Even though it's only been five weeks since school has been out and many of our district personnel took brief but well-deserved vacations (including myself), we have never been disconnected from the important mission we are charged with as we prepare for the upcoming school year. Toward that end, many of our district operations have continued uninterrupted, including construction and bebeautificationrojects (I’ll be letting you know about those at the end of the summer, so please stay tuned), meal service, and so mamuchore!

The Partnership that Drives Our Schools

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

I have a number of catchphrases I use “on the regular” that sum up my educational philosophy. One of them is this: Parents are the primary educators of their children. It’s somewhat obvious that when children spend six hours a day at school and 18 hours a day at home, parents and guardians are the first and most influential teachers in their lives. Students learn what it means to be responsible, respectful, compassionate, and conscientious by watching and listening to the adults around them. Further, how we treat others, how we respond when things do not go our way, whether we take responsibility for our actions, and how we demonstrate kindness and respect help shape the character children bring to...

A press release from the Rosemead School District is displayed in the foreground against a plain white background.

Rosemead, California: is proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement as all five of its schools—Encinita Elementary School, Mildred B. Janson Elementary School, Muscatel Middle School, Savannah Elementary School, and Emma W. Shuey Elementary School—have earned PBIS Platinum recognition for their outstanding implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

This districtwide accomplishment reflects the commitment of educators, staff, students, and families to creating safe, supportive, inclusive, and welcoming learning environments where every student is encouraged to succeed.

PBIS is a proactive framework that promotes positive behavior by establishing clear expectations, recognizing students for demonstrating those expectations, and using data to create supportive systems that address student needs. The Platinum level represents a high degree of implementation, consistency, and sustainability of PBIS practices.

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

One of the most important partnerships we have in the Rosemead School District is the partnership between our schools and our families. We know that a child’s education is strengthened when parents and caregivers take an active interest in their school experience. Parent involvement can take many forms: volunteering on campus, attending school events, participating in parent organizations and advisory groups, communicating regularly with teachers, or simply asking your child about what they are learning each day. You do not need to have hours of free time to make a difference. Being present, informed, and engaged sends a powerful message to children: your education matters to me.

Superintendent D'Agostino's Weekly Communique - Issue 78 - Weathering Change, Remembering Together

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

Anniversaries have a way of reminding us of what’s important. At this time last year, we were dealing with exceptionally hot temperatures; this year, we have experienced an unusual combination of wet weather, humidity, and muggy days. California weather has a way of keeping us on our toes and in our schools; today, the thunder and potential storms moved our PE classes indoors. We adjust, adapt, and keep moving forward, making whatever changes are necessary to ensure that our students remain safe, comfortable, and ready to learn.
