The California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) is pleased to share with you the results of the 2016 Annual Survey on broadband adoption in California released on August 1, 2016.
The 2016 Survey found the percentage of Californians who have high-speed Internet at home has risen to 84% in 2016 up from 55% in 2008; however, 14% of the 84% are connecting only through a smart phone--a near doubling of smart phone-only users since last year. The 2016 Annual Sruvey confirms that the most disadvantaged residents remain offline and "under-connected."
High-speed Internet access is a 21st Century Civil Right. The California Legislature is called on to pass the Internet for All Now Act to ensure digital access and digital literacy for all.
As per the request of the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF), the Rosemead School District is making the 2016 Annual Survey results available for public consumption on our website (directly linked to CETF website) and reference material. The request for posting was received by Sunne Wright McPeak, President and CEO, California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF).
